Hey Everyone!
I'm trying this blogging thing! You know how computer illiterate I am! Thank you Amy for posting the letter from Teresa. When I read it , I thought of our group and it made me want to strive to be a better friend.
I had the most amazing thing happen today, I just had to share! Have you ever had something in your house, like a candle that smelled really good? Sometime during the day you'd catch a hint of it's aroma and you'd pause ,take a deep breath and smile.(Well I do) Anyway, when I think about this morning I get that same feeling only better.
I teach Chapel at CCS most Monday mornings. Usually an abbreviated version of Sunday's Salvation Station lesson. Today was like most Monday's but I was unclear as to the direction my message should go. I felt uneasy and unsure of myself today. So, I prayed for God to have His perfect will and for me to be sensitive to what He wanted to do not me! I began to share about the fruit of the spirit PEACE. Philippians 4:6-7"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known unto God. And the peace of God that passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." After I read that scripture was there really anything left to say regarding Peace?
Then I shared a story I had not thought of in years. I'd like to share it with you.

My husband Tony was saved shortly after our 2nd daughter was born. In many ways, that year was the worst and the best year I can remember. You see, Julie only lived 3 short weeks. So as I was rejoicing over my husband's salvation I was grieving the loss of my baby girl. We both grew up a lot that year. We understood more than ever that we wanted to reach eternity. We also knew we would do it together as a family.
It was wonderful to watch Tony learn of Jesus. One evening I arrived home from work to find Tony in a state of awe. He said you will never believe what the last hour has been like!.. He was in our bedroom when he began to hear this crazy crackling noise. He searched the rented house. Up in the attic, under the house, his ear to every wall socket, fully convinced we had faulty wiring and it would send the house ablaze in the middle of the night. After his relentless search turned up nothing,he looked up to heaven and asked " God what's going on? Do I need to move my family until I know the house is safe? " Then he thought of the scripture I mentioned , so he did just that. He thanked God, praised God and asked God. As he did this ,he rested his hand on a pile of my discarded walking cloths. His hand felt something hard and as he dug in he unearthed the Walkman I used during my walks. It was on and the static from the untuned radio made a crazy crackling noise!
Be anxious for nothing! What a lesson I continually have to learn and relearn! We all react to things for a lot of different reasons. Tony is one of the most level headed people I know,so why that day did he assume the worst? Could it be he felt as I did out of control and confused about the death of our baby girl?
That was 15 years ago and I have felt that way many times since then but I have learned as I did that day that God concerns himself with the details of our lives and from that I have great peace.
After Chapel a 4th grade boy asked me to pray with him to receive Jesus into his heart. I have since learned he is dealing with a lot and life at home is hard and confusing. He wants peace and with God he can get it. Pray for him.
Isn't it funny how God uses our little life lessons to bring people to Him? I'm thankful for each of you. I hope this week is a great one and I'll see you on Sunday if not before!
Love ya,
Ginger
